This product and approach to stop cat scratching works!! We purchased an area rug and after clipping my cat's claws, she dug her claws into the rug. We immediately covered the rug with plastic and purchased this post. We placed the post next to the rug and used the recommended approach of playing with kitty at the post. She fell in love with it! After a week, we uncovered the rug and repaired the damage. Happily, kitty no longer has an interest in scratching the rug!

Meme loves it. It is the only scratching post I will buy and over the past 5 years she (and her new brother) have had a the mongo and the regular version. If you have room for the mongo, I highly recommend!

As soon as I put it together my 12 year old cat (declawed) sat on it and rubbed her scent on it. When our two 9 week old kittens discovered it they climbed it, scratched on it, launched themselves from it & sat on top. All 3 cats love it. My older cat does not want to share! Both dogs also like to put thei heads & front paws on it. Unfortunately the puppy also chewed up one corner :(. He hasn't chewed in it since I sprayed bitter Apple on it. I really hope the kittens keep using it and not our furniture! When I can afford it is like to get one or two more!
